Neon Pulse is a sex-positive magazine of literary fiction, photography, and culture. We publish adults who take desire seriously — as subject matter, as art, as lived experience. No hedging. No apology.
Flash fiction, micro-essays, prose poems. Pieces that set a temperature and get out. This section opens the issue.
The centrepiece. One or two longer pieces with genuine craft behind them. This is where the issue finds its depth.
Writers, artists, sex workers, kink educators, photographers, academics — anyone doing interesting work at the intersection of desire and culture. Pitch a subject.
Two pictorials per issue. Intentional, desire-forward, unapologetic. We publish nudity and erotic content. We are looking for work that creates beauty and desire simultaneously, not documentation.
Books, film, art, music, games, performance — anything touching desire, the body, or sexual culture. We want opinions, not summaries. Have a point of view.
Kink, fetish, and sex work voices. Real experience, clearly distinguished from fiction. This section exists because these voices are underrepresented everywhere else. Anonymity available upon request.
Neon Pulse publishes nudity, erotic content, and explicit themes in artistic and literary contexts. Our standard is R-rated with context-dependent flexibility. The distinction we draw is between erotic — desire, implication, beauty, tension — and pornographic — explicit act documentation. All content decisions rest with the editor.
Issue 1 operates on a prestige model. We are transparent about this: we are a launch issue. Contributor payment is a priority goal as revenue builds. We will not ask for work without being honest about what we can offer. All contributors will receive a free digital pdf of the issue containing their work.
First publication rights (worldwide digital and print). All rights revert to the contributor after the publication date. We do not claim ownership of your work — we borrow it for one publication cycle.
Considered if rights have fully reverted to the contributor. Please include publication history and reversion confirmation in your submission email.
Accepted. Please notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. We will not hold this against future submissions.
We aim to respond within 14–28 days. We read everything. We will not leave you without a response.
Available upon request, particularly for Frequencies contributors. Your name and identity are yours to control. Request anonymity in your submission email and it will be honoured without question.
All photography featuring real, identifiable people requires a signed model release covering digital and print publication in Neon Pulse. Proof of age (18+) for all subjects must be provided before publication. Do not submit photography of real people without confirming you hold releases.
Read the full guidelines first — then send your work to submissions@neonpulsemag.com. We look forward to reading you.
